Journals, journals, and more journals! I am off on a three week racing trip. First stop is the Philly Triple Crown. The racing starts on June 3 in Lehigh, PA. Reading, PA is on June 5. Then the 158 mile big daddy, Philly is on June 8. I head North after that to Quebec for Tour De Beauce which runs from June 10-15. Then I head closer to home for Tour De Nez in the Reno/Tahoe area. That will be from June 18-21. Lots of racing! I will be doing my normal daily journals after every race. You can find those posted on RoadMagazine.net and SoCalCycling.com. Thanks for the support.

I made the cover of Competitor Magazine for June's edition. This was from a photo shoot I did with Louis Garneau. I have to say that the Garneau clothing is second to none, the stuff is incredible.

It's nice being back in San Diego. As they say, there's no place like home! Cindy, Charlotte and I had a great time on our trip to Oregon for the Mt. Hood Stage Race. My performance was pretty average but the trip was awesome! I will be doing a couple of local LA crits on Sunday and Monday and then I'll be heading off for Philly week on June 1st. I'll be racing all three Philly week races and then we head up to Quebec for Tour De Beauce, a six day stage race which starts two days after Philly, ouch! Look for my journals to start again on June 3rd.

We had our first team race of the year last weekend at the San Dimas Stage Race. It went fairly well for us. I had a decent uphill TT and ran 4th. I suffered in the road race but I guess most people did. Cantwell ran 3rd in the sprint so that was good. The crit wasn't good, we didn't have anyone in the winning break of two and I lost two spots in the GC to finish 6th overall. I would have been content with a top-3 overall but oh well. Redlands is this week so I'm hoping for good things as my fitness continues to improve.

I've just finished up training camp with the team, which you can read about here.

I'm currently in Georgia at training camp. The weather is great so far! We're going to start hitting the miles on the 13th - 20th, can't wait. Stevenson, Cantwell, and I raced last weekend in Murrieta, CA. We had a huge field with a handful of good pro's. Cantwell won the first day and held onto the overall in the circuit race. It was a good test of my fitness to help leadout and defend Cantwell. I felt incredible the whole weekend! Can't wait for the NRC races just around the corner. I have a new journal posted as well if your up for a read.

The season has started off great! We had 4 Jittery Joe's riders at Valley of the Sun last week and ended up winning a stage and taking second on GC. I am feeling very good about my training and the timing of my first peak of the year. I believe that I'm right on target for a great April! I am really motivated for a result at Redlands since it is like a home race for me. Tour of Georgia will follow a couple of weeks later and that will be the teams biggest target of the season.
My schedule through April is the following:

March 8-9 Tour of Murrieta, CA*
March 10-22 Jittery Joe's Team Camp, GA March 28-30 San Dimas Stage Race, CA
April 3-6 Redlands Classic Stage Race, CA
April 13 Garrett Lemire Grand Prix, CA
April 21-27 Tour De Georgia, GA
* non team race

Things are going great so far this year. Being a father is awesome! Charlotte is changing by the day. She has nearly doubled in weight in just 9 weeks! Training is going well, January has been a big volume month for me. Not to much intensity yet but I have the February local races to whip me into shape. My first racing goal isn't until Redlands Classic in April, so this early stuff will definitely hurt. The last two weekends I've been able to spend with the UC Cyclery team at their camp in Borrego Springs and with Team Possabilities in Redlands. It has been so much fun for me getting to ride with so many talented and motivated people. I will post my racing schedule for the spring within the next couple of weeks.

Busy, busy, busy. Well Charlotte is a month old now and she's doing great! I apologize for the lack of updates recently. I will try to be better about it. Last week I took part in the first of the CCSD training camps. What a great time! I met some wonderful people and got in some great base miles for the week. I will be taking part in two more of the camps in January. If your looking to get in some good miles in a great atmosphere then this is the camp for you! Visit for more information.

It's a girl! Charlotte Joy was eight days late, but, as they say good things come to those who wait. She was born on November 20th. She weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces. I definitely have a new appreciation for my wife after she labored for nine hours completely unmedicated. Everyday since her birth has been amazing!

I am happy to say that I will be back on Jittery Joe's for another season! I had some different options but when it all boiled down to it Jittery Joe's is where I really wanted to be. A big part of why I came back is because of the team fans, Jittery has some of the greatest fans in the sport! I look forward to continuing my development and helping the team have it's best season ever in 08!
